I'm new – where do I start? I only see one word
Welcome aboard! Thanks for checking out Lingvist. We are thrilled to have you with us and we hope that our app matches your needs. Here’s what you need to know about Lingvist:
- We teach you the most frequent words;
We’ve analyzed millions of bits of data from news articles, film subtitles, and books, and we build our courses around the words’ statistical relevance. For example, you’ll learn the word “money” before the word “school” in French because it’s more likely to come up in contemporary conversation.
- You need to type out (or speak – an option available on mobile) your answers to start learning;
We want to make sure you train either your muscle memory or your pronunciation to make sure the word sticks with you.
- You will repeat previously seen words following the spaced repetition formula.
Our app will review the words where you make more mistakes more frequently and will go through the words which are easier for you faster.
If you don’t know an answer, you should click the “Reveal” button or hit Enter to see the answer and type it out.
