Soccer (or fútbol) is the national sport of Spain and the most widely watched sport on Earth. The simple requirements (a ball, something to mark the goals) and power to bring families together has made it a popular sport and cornerstone of many communities all around the globe. Chances are, whatever Spanish-speaking country you choose to visit, there will be an opportunity to catch a game of soccer. While having polite conversations about the weather or your vacation plans with local Spanish speakers may be pleasant and intellectually stimulating, there’s nothing like witnessing the raw emotion that surfaces at a soccer match.
